The lettings business has experienced unprecedented growth in recent years and continues to do so as more people seek interim accommodation while saving for a mortgage. This rise in demand has naturally necessitated an increase in the number of letting professionals.  As such, this area of the property industry remains one of the fastest-moving and most exciting; offering a great many job opportunities.

Working in lettings requires the ability to balance both the interests of the landlord with those of the tenant – whether it’s negotiating the terms of the lease, asking prospective tenants sensitive questions as part of the vetting process or arranging property safety inspections. The ideal letting agent, negotiator, branch executive or property manager is someone that can work well under pressure, communicate succinctly and has good judgement. ARLA qualifications are a bonus, but not necessarily a prerequisite if the candidates possess some experience of the property industry.

Lettings is a great area in which to launch a career, with many trainee and graduate positions opening up in agencies nationwide – the potential for development is vast. Applicants can learn the industry from the ground up, while clients can gain a valuable new team member.
