Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen with this family-run, independent property letting and management agent with a number of offices in Oxfordshire. The company has a strong presence and market share in the surrounding area, and has an excellent reputation.

The company is currently looking to recruit a Letting Department Manager for their Abingdon office where there will be responsibility for three other staff members.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of letting department and reception to ensure effective staff cover at all times
  • To work alongside Office Manager with a specific responsibility to develop a plan and strategy to attract new landlords and properties
  • Keep in touch with changing market conditions and be prompt to adjust letting policy and activities accordingly
  • To provide first class service to landlords and tenants promoting success through recommendation
  • To nurture and develop new business opportunities and contacts within local business community to facilitate letting of the portfolio
  • Conduct take-on appointments effectively selling the company’s advantages in order to maximise opportunity to gain completed client instructions
  • Responsibility for local marketing of properties including presentation of properties on portals and websites
  • Manage, and coach the letting and reception staff to ensure that they appropriately motivated and trained to carry out their responsibilities to the required standards
  • Chair morning meetings ensuring that they are energetic, focused and actively participated in by the whole team
  • Assist team members with proposed rent increases in conjunction with advice from Property Department Manager
  • Produce weekly letting reports and statistics as and when requested
  • Ensure effective linkage and communication with property management, accounts, etc.

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

  • Minimum three years experience in sales/lettings agency
  • Excellent track record in achieving targets
  • Experience of managing teams of people
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation
  • Strong legal knowledge via NFOPP Technical Award qualification

This exciting opportunity comes with the following salary and benefits:

  • A competitive basic starting salary of c. £20-25,000 pa
  • On target earnings of c. £40,000

  • Monday to Friday – 8.30am to 5.00pm –  1 in 3 Saturdays – am only
