Happy 20th Birthday!
Property Personnel, one of the market-leading recruitment consultancies for the property industry, have recently celebrated their 20th anniversary.
Managing director Anthony Hesse, who established the company back in 1988, has seen many changes in the industry over the last 20 years. "When we started trading, market conditions in estate agency were very similar to how they are now with house prices falling, offices closing and staff being made redundant in numbers" recalls Anthony, who believes this has stood Property Personnel in good stead for today’s extremely challenging conditions. "To win business in such a difficult market, and more importantly to then retain it, meant that our levels of service and professionalism had to consistently be second to none. Many of the clients we recruited for back in the late 80’s / early 90’s are still clients of ours today"
"Whilst vacancy numbers in residential sales have been falling consistently throughout this year, the demand for staff in lettings and property management has been strong" reports Anthony. "On a brighter note, since the beginning of September we have experienced a slight uplift in opportunities within residential sales as clients are surprisingly struggling to fill their vacancies. With redundancies being commonplace throughout all sectors of the industry, one would have thought that it would be easy to recruit right now, but this is quite simply not the case. We would estimate that up to 80% of people either losing or leaving their jobs in estate agency are changing career paths" quotes Anthony.
"With on target earnings significantly lower than when the majority of sales negotiators joined the industry, many are now either moving into lettings or other property related roles, or leaving the industry altogether. Popular alternative career choices are recruitment and field sales, but with many industry staff still in their early 20’s, a number of these are taking the opportunity to go travelling or return to higher education" according to Anthony.
"We are pleased to report that demand for staff is stronger than we would have expected considering the market conditions, and we are still placing people in jobs. Here’s to the next 20 years!"

"Promotion at Property Personnel"
Property Personnel, leading recruitment consultants for the property industry, have recently promoted Allison Dalrymple (pictured above) to Manager of their Lettings & Management Division. Commenting on Allison’s promotion, Property Personnel’s managing director Anthony Hesse quoted "Allison is a highly talented recruitment consultant who fully deserves this promotion. In the five years that she has worked for us at Property Personnel she has broken all records in terms of business written and people placed." Anthony goes on to add "But as importantly, she has had an influential role in helping us to develop our specialist Lettings & Management Division into the success it is today". As a direct result of increased business levels within this division, the company has also recruited Vicki Dakin to the team. Vicki joins Property Personnel from Foxtons Estate Agents where she worked in both Lettings and Renewals. The Lettings team now comprises of Allison, Vicki and Emma Coates. Emma is now in her third year with Property Personnel.

"Property Personnel launches new website"
Property Personnel, leading recruitment consultants for the property industry, have recently launched a new website as part of their programme of continuous improvement. With many new features benefiting both clients and candidates, there has already been a significant rise in traffic to the site. According to their managing director Anthony Hesse, "The key objectives of this major investment were to improve usability, to ease navigation and to result in an even better experience for clients and candidates alike". Anthony adds "As recruitment consultants our primary objective is to help our clients find the best staff and our candidates find the best career opportunities in the industry. We work in a people business and I am delighted to be able to confirm that the majority of our time is still spent face to face, or on the telephone, with people. As a consequence our website is not there to replace us, purely to enhance and facilitate the whole recruitment process."
Many of its new features have been designed with the job seeker in mind, including its fully searchable and easily usable database of all live jobs in Residential Estate Agency. This includes a dedicated Lettings & Property Management section. Other features also proving to be very popular with candidates include the areas on ‘Interview Techniques’, ‘How to write your CV’, ‘Industry news’ and ‘Market update’.
